Office of the Vice President Faculty Affairs and Scientific Information

Area A: Action line A 1.2

Introduction to Action line A 1.2: Field-specific actions

The overall aim of this first measure of the swissuniversities Data (ORD) Program is to support researchers engaging in or developing ORD practices with and for their community(-ies) and to assist these researchers in becoming Open Science leaders in their field(s).

It is the declared goal to fund proposals that make tools (software/ hardware/ protocols/ standards/ benchmarks/ documentation and training materials/ networking and education venues and resources) available which enable, facilitate, and foster sharing research data based on ORD principles. Preference will be given to projects which engage and are connected to a community. Therefore, applicants are strongly invited to demonstrate why their project represents an ORD practice that encourages good research in their field.

It is also a declared goal to fund proposals that foster community building including communities resulting from interdisciplinary collaboration, exploring shared ORD requirements and explore integration in existing infrastructures and international networks.

Action line A1.2 contains three tracks:
• Track A: Explore projects (Call closed)
• Track B: Establish projects (Call closed)
• Track C: Contribute projects (2nd Call, UZH deadline July 10, 2023)

Coordination within UZH

A call for proposals such as that of P5, which is directed at a very broad target group, runs over several phases and stipulates the contribution of "matching funds" as an application criterion, requires a coordinated approach within UZH. To ensure this, a UZH P5-Committee was formed to review project ideas for the attention of the VIce President Faculty Affairs (VP FSI). The committee consists of four members of the UZH Open Science Committee. Based on the assessments of the UZH P5-Committee, the Vice President FSI, together with the Vice President Research, makes the final decision as to which projects are recommended to swissuniversities by the UZH.

Please familiarize yourself with the UZH-internal process for each track so that a smooth project submission can be ensured.

More information on the ORD-programme and the upcoming calls for proposals is available on the swissuniversities' website; this information is updated regularly.
