P-5: Phase B - Open Research Data

Background

In January 2020, the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) commissioned swissuniversities to develop a Swiss National Strategy for Open Research Data (ORD) and an associated action plan. The ORD Action Plan, published in January 2022, concretises the measures of the ORD Strategy published in 2021 and was developed in a joint undertaking by swissuniversities, the ETH Domain, the SNSF, and the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences.

The National ORD Strategy and Action Plan lay the foundation for close communication and collaboration between partner institutions in the development and implementation of a shared vision for ORD in Switzerland.

With the broader aim of advancing Open Science among Higher Education researchers and institutions, the Program defines one bottom-up measure and three top-down measures with the following goals:

Bottom-up projects

  • Action Area A: Support researchers engaging in, or developing, ORD practices with and for their community. Assist these researchers in becoming Open Science leaders in their field.

Please familiarize yourself with the UZH-internal process and deadlines for each track (see subpages) so that a smooth project submission can be ensured.

Top-down projects

  • Action Area B: Development, promotion, and maintenance of financially sustainable basic infrastructures and services for all researchers.
  • Action Area C: Equip researchers for ORD skills development and exchange of best practices.
  • Action Area D: Building up systemic und supportive conditions for institutions and research communities.
